Revised: March 4, 2010
CHANGES TO YARD WASTE ACCEPTANCE, CALCULATION METHODOLOGY AND RATES
Please note that effective May 1, 2010, Ecowaste Industries will be implementing the following changes for acceptance of yard waste at the Ecowaste Landfill in Richmond:
METHOD CHANGE AND RATES
- Material will no longer be measured by the cubic yard but by the metric tonne.
- Vehicles will be required to scale in and scale out
- Rates will be $50 per tonne including GST, with a minimum charge of $15
RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS - RICHMOND RESIDENTS
- Richmond residents will continue to be eligible for free yard waste drop off.
- Residents will be required to provide proof of residence once per quarter at the Scale. This information will be recorded and reviewed automatically every three months. Proof will be by a current BC Driver’s License or a current tax notice and photo identification.
Customers who are unable to provide proof of Richmond residency will be charged the current rate or the minimum charge, whichever applies.
COMMERCIAL OPERATORS
- All yard waste loads brought to Ecowaste by those designated as a commercial entity (landscapers, yard maintenance, etc.) will be subject to the fee structure noted above.
- Those commercial landscapers or yard and lawn maintenance businesses bringing yard waste to Ecowaste will be required to identify themselves and either open an account or be registered in our system for tracking purposes. This registration will be required for any company that:
- displays a company name
- has commercial license plates
- is registered to a business, or
- is a company that has artisan use insurance.
If none of these are apparent a decision will be made based on the size and frequency of delivery that would be considered abnormal for a resident.
If you have any questions about these changes or the criteria for those deemed to be commercial operators please contact Tom Land, General Manager at (604) 249-1977.
